When you have a younger child, you know the importance of having a place to go on those days when you just have to get out of the house. While parks and playgrounds are always an easy option, you need a backup for the days when the weather is acting up. As an Erie family photographer, I get the chance to chat with tons of local moms about their recommendations. If you need a place to head this week, let me tell you why you need to head to the Erie Children’s Museum!
420 French Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16507
Erie Children’s Museum opened its doors over 27 years ago to give kids a place where they could create and discover something new. The center currently works as a non-profit and welcomes over 60,000 guests each year. Their goal is to create a space where kids can develop their cognitive and social skills while having the time of their lives! Your child will have endless opportunities to play pretend while making some friends along the way! The museum has a daily admission fee and offers a membership option, so you can stop by as often as you’d like.
The museum has a combination of permanent exhibits that will transform your child’s experience. They have specialty programs that start as young as infancy. Your baby will have a space where they can safely explore while doing STEAM-inspired activities. Once they get a little older, they can try out other exhibits that focus on their imagination by encouraging them to create a brand-new world. They can sail the seas on a pirate ship or put on a play at the theater. Don’t worry if you have multiple kids, though. Older kids never have to worry about feeling left out. The center has exhibits that are aimed at elementary and middle schoolers. These ages will get to try their hands at constructing a house, creating a painting, and making a brand-new invention.
In addition to their standard exhibits, the Erie Children’s Museum has events that will encourage your child to learn while giving them an experience they’ll never forget! They offer summer camps for kids as young as 4. Your child will get to choose from themed day camps so they can have their best summer ever. They also will often host classes that give your child a regular way to engage with the topics.
If you love this spot, why not host your child’s birthday here? The center has party packages for up to 40 guests, including their adults.
With the Erie Children’s Museum, you will have a space where your child can burn out their energy while having the best time ever! Plan your visit soon so you can check it out!
